Life and work as it was in Driebergen"
During the Historical Driebergen festival on September 12 and 13 a photo exhibition and short film will be shown entitled: "Just as it was". This takes place in the Consistory of the Great Church on de Hoofdstraat. "Just as it was" is the title of a book that probably will be in the bookstores around june 2010. A book full of stories and photo's of people over 80 years, born and raised in Driebergen-Rijsenburg.
These people were asked to participate in the book with an interview about the past. The makers of the book want to to preserve old oral tradition to paper and thereby preserve interesting stories for later. Indeed, it would be a pity if all those old stories about their lives, the ups and downs of the village will be lost. The participating people in the book are between the 80 and 100 years old.
Just as it was
The book will be filled with much portraits and old photos of 25 to 30 people. The stories are memories from their personal lives, their life in their own environment, live and work in Driebergen-Rijsenburg the past (perhaps) paint in a different way than is possible with historical research. The book is about 200 pages and include black and white pictures of the people now and (old) photos from their photo albums.
